LOS ANGELES, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Ukrainian teenager Viktoriya Kutuzova celebrated her WTA Tour main draw debut with a 6-4 6-4 win over Lina Krasnoroutskaya in the first round of the JP Chase Morgan Open on Tuesday.
Another teenager, Maria Sharapova, also victorious, stunning fellow Russian and 14th seed Nadia Petrova 6-2 2-6 7-5 in the second round.
Kutuzova, a 14-year-old wildcard, overcame her nerves and the more experienced Russian Krasnoroutskaya in a contest lasting one hour and 45 minutes.
"I wasn't scared just nervous, but I can play with it," said the runner-up at the 2003 Junior Australian Open.
"It was excited energy. I want to play, I want to kill everybody before the match starts."
Kutuzova trains at the Evert Academy in Florida and showed her familiarity with U.S. hardcourts.
She came into the tournament with world ranking of 451 but played at a higher level than Krasnoroutskaya, who committed 12 double faults.
"For sure I was dreaming about this win. I couldn't sleep yesterday," said Kutuzova, who will face American Alexandra Stevenson in the second round on Wednesday.
"This is not all that I can show, it's not my best tennis " she said. "I can play much better."
